The IET internal process
- Your application will be acknowledged upon receipt within the registration and standards fellowship department;
- The IET finance department will issue, under separate cover, a receipt for any payment made;
- Your application will be checked by the IET staff and, where necessary, the proposers and supporters contacted;
- Upon receipt of all information, within the registration and standards fellowship department, your application will be forwarded to the assessment panel for recommendation.
Assessment panel recommendations and the decision
Upon receipt of the assessment panel’s recommendation, your application will be forwarded to the chairman for final decision.
You will be notified, in writing, of any decision made.
| Election: | An election pack, containing your official letter will be sent by first class post. |
| Interview: | Should an interview be required, you will be invited to attend at a mutually convenient time and location. |
| Defer: | A further period of working at a level consistent with fellowship criteria – a date will be supplied for the applicant to either re-apply or update the assessment panel. |
| Decline: | Experience not consistent with criteria for Fellow. |
The timescale for this process can be from two weeks to six months. Any delay is usually due to non receipt of completed reference forms; it would assist the process if these forms are completed by your two proposers and one supporter prior to submitting your application.
