Payment methods

Paying for your membership is quick and easy.

How to pay:

  • Direct Debit is the IET's preferred method of payment as it helps keep our costs to a minimum and therefore ensures that your membership fees are put to best use. You can sign up online by logging on to www.theiet.org/myiet and following the 'Direct Debit' link. If you have not previously registered, it is quick and easy to do so: use the ‘register’ facility on the top of each IET page and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • To pay online by debit / credit card, log onto www.theiet.org/myiet and follow the ‘My Membership’ link.
  • Use a sterling cheque or banker’s draft made payable to ‘The Institution of Engineering and Technology’. Please write your membership number and payment reference on the reverse of the cheque or draft. Please note that we do not accept payment by Western Union.
  • Contact our Member and Customer Service Team on +44 (0)1438 765678. Calls can be taken Monday-Friday between the hours of 0800 and 1800 GMT. Please note the office will be closed from 25 December 2008 to 1 January 2009 inclusive.
  • We do not accept or take any liability for payment by cash sent by post.
  • Some countries have arrangements for members to pay locally - see 'Pay Locally' section.

PLEASE NOTE: if you allow your membership to lapse and then wish to rejoin the standard subscription rate will apply.

We now bill in the following currencies:
