Creation of a new Institution
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) was formed by the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) and the Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE) on 31 March 2006.
The decision to create a new Institution was taken by the members of both Institutions in 2005 following discussions between the Institutions and consultation with their members. A number of documents are available from the period when the proposal was under discussion.
