E&T editor scoops prestigious award
05 November 2008
The IET’s Dickon Ross was last night named Editor of the Year at the prestigious British Society of Magazine Editors Awards. Ronnie Corbett presented him with his trophy for E&T, a magazine which was said to ooze confidence.
Dickon, Editor-in-Chief of both E&T and Flipside, scooped the award for non-weekly Business & Professional Magazines beating the likes of Management Today, Director and The Practitioner.
E&T is joined on the roll call of winning publications by a host of household names including Golf Monthly, Empire and Vogue.
Dickon Ross joined the IET in 2002, where he conceived and launched Flipside, a glossy, picture-led magazine aimed at teenagers, with readership of over 300,000. He has worked as a science and technology journalist in both trade and consumer publications, and was a reporter and News Editor for Electronics Times before joining Focus magazine, which he then went on to edit.
On receiving the gong, he said, “I’m absolutely thrilled with this honour. It’s great recognition for the hard work that all the team has put in to make E&T the market leader.”
He was congratulated by Robin McGill, IET chief executive, who described the award as a fantastic achievement.
