International event on IPTV in December
04 November 2008
Engineers, business developers, telecom operators and software and hardware suppliers are invited to discuss the market’s latest technologies at an Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) event, in December.
This international two day conference on Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and convergence provides the industry with key, cutting edge solutions and the latest regulatory and business information required in this dynamic industry.
IPTV allows consumers to watch their favourite TV programmes from their personal gadgets, such as mobile phones and MP3 players. The main aim of this conference is to look at how IPTV could meet future and personalised demands from consumers.
Respected names from the industry will be on hand to tackle the issues with comprehensive answers and case studies. The guest speakers include Professor David Crawford, David Price, Vice President, Product Marketing and Business Development at Harmonic USA, Shane Walker from IMS Research USA Jeremy Oliver from OFCOM and Paul Ashun, from the BBC. In 2002 he began work for the BBC where he helped to develop on the world’s first video-on-demand service.
Professor Crawford, a fellow of the IET, is actively involved in various International Standard bodies and Industry Forums. He is also the Chairman of IBC Conference, a multimedia event, which attracts over 50,000 visitors each year to Amsterdam.
Professor Crawford said, “There have been some tremendous advances in the roll out of IPTV networks and services worldwide. This Seminar will provide delegates with a thorough understanding of what has been done and what can be done from the points of view of the technology, the quality and the business models.”
The conference will take place at Savoy Place, the London home of the IET, on 10 December.
