The Library and Archives together provide a range of services from research on the history of science, engineering and technology (SET) to the most current technical information available.
The Library:
The Library provides access to the latest business and technical information, marketing and company news to ensure that you are professionally competent in your field of expertise. The Library covers all aspects of electrical engineering, electronics, manufacturing, computing and communications, control and related subjects such as physics, management and historical aspects.
The Archives:
The Archives is responsible for the collection and preservation of the IET’s records. These records reflect the IET's many activities since its foundation in 1871. It also holds collections that have been purchased by or deposited with the IET due to their importance in the history and development of SET from the 14th century to the present day.
MLA Designated status:
Designated Status has been awarded from the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) for the collections in the Library, Archives and Rare Books which have been recognised as being of outstanding national and international importance in the fields of science, engineering and technology.
Opening times:
The Library and Archives at Savoy Place, London are open to members and the general public between the hours of 09.00 - 17.00 GMT Monday to Friday. For more information see our Visit Us page.
